Input Shaft - 26T
Description
The AWT297‑16 / WT297‑16 is a close-ratio input gear specifically designed for the GM Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission. Featuring a precision-machined 26-tooth helical gear and a 10-spline input shaft interface, this gear is engineered for use in high-performance GM vehicles—including Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, and Oldsmobile models—manufactured between 1963 and 1970.
Constructed from high-grade SCM415 or SAE 8620 carburized alloy steel, the gear undergoes carburizing and quenching heat treatment to deliver exceptional wear resistance and impact strength. With a hardened tooth surface rated at HRC 58–62, it ensures reliable performance under high-speed, high-torque conditions and maintains long-term durability and transmission efficiency.
