Reverse Gear
Description
The WT297-36 is a reverse gear specifically designed for GM Muncie M20, M21, and M22 4-speed manual transmissions. It was widely used in GM rear-wheel-drive vehicles produced between 1963 and 1974. Manufactured from high-strength carburized alloy steel (such as SCM-415 or SAE 8620), the gear undergoes precision heat treatment to achieve a surface hardness of HRC 58–62, offering excellent wear resistance and impact durability.
The gear features a precision-splined inner bore to ensure accurate fitment with the main shaft, while its outer teeth are CNC-cut and ground for smooth surface finish and stable gear engagement. WT297-36 is a high-quality replacement component, ideal for factory repairs, performance upgrades, and restoration of classic GM muscle cars.
